ME Inc...
Hello, Bonjour, Junior Team Canada staff! I hope you guys are getting a lot of interesting applications; I know it took me some time to come up with something unique. With any luck you guys have not received a lot of applications in the form of a website.
I have done some work to figure out what makes me different from all these people across Canada applying for this year’s economic mission to Vietnam. I’ve had to step out of the box to find out exactly what my brand is and where I want to go with it. Now I can say that my brand is strong! I am innovative, intelligent and driven. I was the President of Junior Achievement at John McCrae Secondary School where I developed and operated along with other students a line of bath products made form scratch. I would like to work for EDC on risk analysis or operate my own company in the future.
I have had a lot of opportunities this year to develop my networking skills through several prestigious conferences, such as the APEX (not to be confused with APEC) conference in Toronto as well as Concordia’s Marketing Conference. I am well traveled, working on professional development and I’M CONNECTED in the community. This year I am playing on two soccer teams and I run my own company in the Ottawa area. I have been the president of Perfect Traits Portraits (online at perfecttraits.com) since the last year of high school. Perfect Traits sells portraits of children and their families designed to look like photograph in black and white acrylic.
What else? I have a solid focus and a brand that connects with people. I mentor students in the Ottawa area on how to write effective business plans and I am currently developing the website and media material for National Aids Awareness conference that will be held right here in Ottawa in October of this year. I am Carleton’s Academic Advisor for SMSA (Sprott Marketing Students Association). As well, it is important to mention that I am in my 3rd year in International Business focusing on trade in Countries such as Vietnam. I am one of the chosen students in Carleton’s business program who along with the Dean of the Business School is in charge of revamping the program as it pertains to student life. This initiative is meant to not only get students more involved in the activities on campus but to tackle the problems of drop out rates among first year students.
JTC will need someone that can balance school, work and life well. When we return from the missions we are going to have to do summary reports and volunteer our time to help promote the following year of Global Vision events to students while we are all either working or in school. Well I can do that, just as I have set up this extensive application to JTC within two weeks during the middle of my final exams.
I believe that the accomplishments mentioned above make me the ideal candidate for JTC and a strong ambassador for Canada. I feel the need to give back, because so much has been given to me. I am constantly amazed at the length other people will go to help out students in their community. I have learned from and appreciate the value of programs such as this. The opportunities that come with being able to meet with and discuss relevant issues and ideas that professionals in my community are currently working on. I would appreciate the chance to build knowledge that will help me no matter where I go in life. I know that I have more to learn and that JTC can provide me with experiences that I cannot receive any other way.
You can check out the “Sponsorship Strategies” and “Giving Back” section either on hard copy or on my JTC application website. I am motivated to not only impact my future, but also make a change in the Ottawa area. So I hope you connected with me and my brand, and that I am further able to show JTC my skills and passion to make the difference.
